I’m back everyone and I have much to share!

I’m back everyone and I have much to share!

Ladies and gentlemen!

The structure of the Simply Inspirational Sister (S.I.S.) website has changed to align with my new normal. As many of you know, I was severely injured in a car crash back in April 2015 that left me paralyzed and traumatized (click for details).

Although the process of recovery and restoration has been arduous, I am not alone. Many people have been traumatized by the tragic events in their lives and TRAUMA differs for everyone. For this reason, I am once again opening up my life to you all in an effort to inspire you to PERSEVERE.

The Nuggets Of Knowledge (N.O.K) I post here are universal for men and women of all ages. Our circumstances and experiences may be unique but our struggle to survive and thrive is the same. Some of my experiences include:

  • being a single mom raising two teenagers that have special needs
  • living a full life now as a paraplegic
  • products I’ve tried and hacks I’ve learned
  • available resources

Come what may, I refuse to give up. I choose to LIVE the rest of my life as the BEST of my life! I invite you join me on my journey, share with your network, share reaources or be a source of inspiration.

Marathon runner…

Marathon runner…

Affliction can also make us stronger in our faith and develop our confidence in God’s watch care over us. It may also drive us back to the right path when we have wandered.

David said, “Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I keep Your Word” (Psalm 119:67).

Whatever the reason, if God sends affliction your way, take it in faith as a blessing, not a curse.

Though trials may come….

Though trials may come….

As many of you know, I was in a near-fatal car accident in 2014 which left me paralyzed. This traumatic experience shook us at the core – so much so, that my family and I are still recovering from the after shocks. Although we work through daily challenges, our faith in God has never waivered.

I believe God spared my life (on many occassions) for his glory and purpose. In my human nature I must admit that some days are harder than others to cope. On days like this I am reminded of this biblical passage:

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

John 16:33 NNIV

Aside from Psalm 91, this is definitely one of my favorite scriptures – especially when I have to encourage myself in the Lord. Come what may, none of my problems/issues/challenges/circstances/needs are too much for my sovereign Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

No matter what storms you may be facing right now, please know that God is truly able to handle ANYTHING! I pray that everyone reading this post will be blessed with serenity to persevere and blessed with the assurance of salvation in Christ Jesus.

Jesus loves you!     Be Encouraged Simply Inspirational Sisters (SIS) and friends!

How do YOU move a mountain?

How do YOU move a mountain?

The same way you complete a puzzle. Now, let me explain.

It takes a lot of patience, a keen eye for detail and a strong sense of organization to put together a puzzle that’s 1,000 pieces. Recently a friend asked me how I planned to finish this new project as she looked at all the pieces laid out across the table…

…my response: one piece at a time.

Although this solution may sound simple enough, she quickly retorted that she could never do it.

As an aside – I often chuckle to myself when people say ‘I could never do that…’ (whatever “that” is at that moment), because I think back to the countless times I uttered those same words….until I had no choice but to figure that very thing out in order to PERSEVERE. Some examples include:

  • How to raise two kids with special needs
  • How to balance work, life and graduate school
  • How to make ends meet with so many medical, personal and living expenses but only one income

Ok I digress – now back to the main topic of discussion…

As my friend and I discussed my puzzle strategy further, I went on to explain how I tackle the proverbial “mountains” in my life in much the same manner. My suggestion to her was to remember that some days, you may only be able to tackle pebble-sized pieces and other times you can tackle boulders. In the end, the mountain is moved just the same, as long as you stick with the plan and don’t give up.

You see, staring across a table of a thousand puzzle pieces can seem overwhelming at first (see picture above). Too much all at once can make it difficult to focus on any one area. In much the same way, the mountainous problems in our lives can leave us unable to focus or see the bigger picture.

It is times like these when we must

keep the puzzle in the proper perspective.

perspective is the key to perseverance

My approach to completing a large puzzle is similar to how I tackle the mountains in my life:

  1. I sort and separate the puzzle pieces into smaller, manageable sections.
  2. I assemble the border pieces first as this frames the larger picture.
  3. I look for similar pieces and start to connect them. I tackle one section at a time until the puzzle is complete

Once the puzzle is complete you can see the whole picture and you feel such a sense of accomplishment. I don’t know about you but I like to cross off as I go (celebrating each connection, no matter how small).

Feedback needed SIS

Hello SIS,

I need your feedback please and keep in mind you don’t have to be in Buffalo NY or WNY area for the options below.

Question 1: how many of you would be interested in a prayer call from 12 – 1 EST each day where the SIS callers listen in as someone prays (in general) for everyone?

Question 2: how many of you are interested in a call from 12 – 1 EST where SIS can call in and discuss issues on your heart briefly) and have others prayer with you and provide inspiration/encouragement?

Question 3: how many of you know someone who would prefer receiving inspiration /encouragement via text as opposed to facebook posts?
**(Text messages would be limited characters like a scripture or quote or photo)**

Let me know your thoughts. You can put 1,2,3 or write another need via comment or inbox me.
